Attend General Membership Meeting to hear Elisabeth Warner, Communication Coordinator League of Women Voters of Ohio, clarify ballot language on Issue 1 that ends gerrymandering. Materials will be available for all present to distribute to educate the public! Please come and help stop disinformation! Topic: Throughout the winter, spring and summer of 2024 Ohioans worked to place a state constitutional amendment on the ballot in November, 2024. Successfully collecting the required signatures the amendment will appear as a statewide issue on the November 5th election. Known as Issue 1, it is intended to end gerrymandering in Ohio, the practice of drawing political district boundaries in ways that benefit one party over another, by barring elected officials from the process. Speaker: Elisabeth Warner, the Communication Coordinator for the League of Women Voters of Ohio, will present information that will clarify the ballot language on Issue 1 that was adopted by a 3 to 2 vote of the Ohio Ballot Board on August 16th. Materials will be available for all attending to further distribute to help educate the public on the meaning of a yes or no vote.

Conducted by the Brennan Center. Election workers are unsung heroes, working behind the scenes to ensure that our elections run smoothly and securely. Yet many people don’t fully grasp what their job entails, leaving room for election deniers to spread misinformation. This lack of understanding has fueled a disturbing rise in threats, intimidation, and abuse against election officials since 2020. As we approach another critical election marked by rampant misinformation and attacks on democracy, it’s more important than ever to know the facts about election administration. Join us for a live virtual event that will spotlight these essential but often overlooked professionals. SPEAKERS: Adrian Fontes, Secretary of State, Arizona // Brenda Cabrera, Former Director of Elections, Fairfax, Virginia // Brianna Lennon, County Clerk, Boone County, Missouri // Moderator: Natalie Tennant, Former Secretary of State, West Virginia Register at this link: https://brennan.swoogo.com/freeandfairelections/begin?ref=EventsNewsletter082624&i=u9wG_-8qvZ_tHzPyjy-fNOfTvRffYdTX
