Why Join LWV-TLC?

The League of Women Voters is the original grassroots organization. We have been existence for over 100 years and prior to that, there is a 40-year history of multiple women’s organizations working to support voting rights. As a non-partisan political organization, LWV-TLC encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, work to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influence public policy through education and advocacy.

Longevity and commitment are the keys to our mission and success. We persevere. We fight to protect and expand voting rights. It took over 40 years to give women the right to vote. For years, we have been fighting the good fight to stop gerrymandering and promote fair voting districts. If we fail, we try and try again through advocacy and education.

Joining the League means you have a team working to Defend Democracy at the local, state, and national levels.

Membership Committee Description

The volunteers of the Membership Committee recruit and welcome new members. Activities include providing new member welcome packets, conducting orientation sessions, maintaining the membership directory and roster, and guiding new members to committees in which they have expressed an interest. We also provide membership bags with information to be used at various events and conduct the annual membership renewal process.

This year, the Committee will be developing a new Mentorship program in which existing members will be paired with those new members who wish to be more active in the League of Women Voters. To know more about Membership or volunteer, email us at membership@lwvtlc.com
